It seems we have a busy week ahead here at Stitch Solihull! We’ve had two great workshops over the weekend, including Denise Quinn’s Beginner’s Crochet workshop and Ana’s Beginner’s Sewing workshop. We’ve had lots of happy new stitchers and hookers come out of the classes, and we’re always pleased to try and help anyone who has any queries following on from the workshop.
This week, Denise is doing another Beginner’s Crochet workshop for us on Wednesday 3rd July 10:30am – 1pm. The price for this workshop is £25 and this includes yarn, hook, pattern, and of course drinks and cake!
On Friday 5th July 10:30am – 1pm, I’m running a Knitting In The Round workshop. This workshop is also £25, and includes yarn, appropriate needles (DPNs or circular) plus yummy refreshments. The idea of the knitting in the round workshop is to enable you to knit items which are seamless. So many patterns now call for knitting in the round, and vary from sleeves to socks, monsters to hats, and even as far as whole garments in a bid to banish The Seaming That Never Gets Done to finish a garment. I’ll be teaching methods using both Double Pointed Needles and Circular needles, and helping you to decide which is most comfortable for you to work with. I’ll also show you how to cast on and join for knitting in the round and any troubleshooting associated with this type of knitting. I’m currently designing a couple of accessories for you to choose from to knit on the day. They’ll be chunky quick knits and suitable for knitters who have experience of casting on, casting off, knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing. This workshop is NOT suitable for complete beginner knitters!
And finally we have Claire Muir’s Beginner’s Free Machine Embroidery workshop on Saturday 6th July 10:30am – 1pm, and the cost of this course is £30. This includes use of our machines, fabric, threads, and lovely drinks and snacks to keep you going through the workshop! I’ll be doing another post on Tuesday about Claire’s workshops, so keep your eyes peeled…!
