It’s been an exciting couple of weeks here. We were lucky enough to pick up a high profile, secret project in the middle of December. So since mid December, some of our stitch & sip-ers have been crocheting and knitting away. There was panic when our yarn didn’t arrive on time. And more panic when the rest didn’t arrive on time either.
Then our deadline got extended by a week at the last minute. I think we breathed a collective sigh of relief. In that time, the missing yarn arrived, we managed to collect and complete the pieces we had, stitch them all together, and add on the finishing touches.
I bet you want to see our bit of yarn bombing…..I was up at 6 o’clock this morning, and went to the venue for 7am with fellow stitcher Michelle.
Here’s what we did…
The project is for Knit For A Bit which is holding coffee mornings teaching people to knit & crochet. The idea is to make small squares, which will be stitched together and made into blankets to give to The Children’s Society. With the rises in gas & electricity prices, many families are struggling to keep warm, and so The Children’s Society will be distributing the blankets to those who need them.
We’ll be holding a coffee morning alongside our usual Stitch & Sip session on Saturday 25th January from 10am. If you can’t knit or crochet, come along and we’ll get you started.
The banner will be up in Touchwood Solihull, along with all the other lovely yarn bombing, for a week. Make sure you pop along and have a look and let us know what you think!
