I am a huge fan of Milla Mia, their yarns are divine to knit with and their patterns are fabulous and just the right blend between stylish and practical. They have just released a series of cushion designs around a love theme and with Valentine’s Day next month and Mother’s Day in March, the timing is perfect. Better yet, the patterns are all free for a limited time!
There are 3 cushions in the range which use colour work, both fairisle and intarsia, to make the pattern. One of my New Years knitty resolutions was to conquer my fear of colour work and these may be just the excuse I was looking for. The cushion samples are knitted in a bold modern colour palette featuring Midnight, Fuchsia, Daisy and Lilac Blossom although I think they would also look great in more subtle and traditional colours. There are over 20 colours in the original Milla Mia yarn so you’re bound to find something that you love.

If a cushion seems a bit too big an undertaking, there is also a candle warmer in the collection. This is a perfect introduction before tackling one of the bigger pieces or as a way to use up some leftover yarn.I also think this would make a great coffee cup cosy as a quick knit gift for a significant other.
It’s a tough call but I think my favourite design is the Sweet Heart Cushion, I love the detailing on the back although I’d probably use a brighter colour for the contrast, possible Peacock. Which design would you choose?
