Today I’m super excited to bring you details of an extra special workshop we are running on Thursday June 4th in collaboration with Judith Rowley.
Judith is a Textile Artist and Teacher. She is a regular exhibitor with Textile Connection and Midlands Textile Forum and is a member of Prism Textiles which has a an international membership.Currently she is President of Birmingham Art Circle. You can find out more about Judith on her website along with photos of her stunning work.
Judith is going to run a special workshop with us entitled Textile Art – Create a Tactile and Textural Surface. This is a great opportunity to work with and learn from an experienced artist. During the class you will be manipulating natural cottons and silks to create a beautiful surface to stitch into. All stitching will be by hand so the class is suitable for those with no sewing experience as well as those who want to expand their sewing skills in a unique way.
We will provide all your materials including a selection of natural fabrics with a fragment of antique textile or lace. These should provide plenty of inspiration to encourage your design.
Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself to be artistic, Judith will guide you to create your own mini masterpiece. Once your piece is complete, you will then have the opportunity to colour it with dyes if you wish to create a striking full colour art work.
This can then be mounted on a card which we will also provide or if you prefer you can frame your piece in your own time and display it on your wall.
The class is on Thursday June 4th from 10:30-1 and places are £30. You can book by giving us a call on 0121 314 6888 or via our online store. Spaces are limited so book now and take advantage of this great opportunity to learn from a highly experienced artist.
