The latest fabric range to drive in store is Bohemia by Makower. Bohemia is a modern, eye catching collection infused with traditional folk inspiration. We have the 5 fabrics from the Daylight colour way which are sure to turn heads.I think my favourite is the large floral (bottom left) but I would also love a skirt made with the lace bird print (bottom right).
The fabrics retail at £14/m with fat quarters at £3.50 or a fat quarter bundle with 1 fat quarter of each fabric and 1m of coordinating ribbon for £17.50.If you need inspiration, there is a free quilt pattern designed by Lynne Goldsworthy of Lily’s Quilts. This quilt finishes at 60″ square but I think one of the motifs would also make a fabulous cushion if you want a smaller project. We can help you put a kit together with everything you need to make this quilt. Please ask for more details. If you’re unsure or in need of a refresher about how to work with templates and appliqué, I am running a Dresden Plate Workshop which will give you all the skills you need to tackle this quilt.
I am pleased to announce that the Stitch Solihull course schedule for January to April 2016 is now available. This sees the return of our popular beginners classes in knitting, crochet and sewing plus new classes in bag making and free machine embroidery.
The full timetable can be downloaded as a PDF by clicking the highlighted text or you can pick up a printed copy in store.
Places can be booked through our online store or over the phone on 0121 314 6888. We’d love to see you on a workshop soon. Please let us know if you have any questions.
We’ve had lots of lovely new fabrics delivered in the last few weeks including new ranges from Makower and some from Timeless Treasures who we are excited to now be working with. One of these ranges is Tutu, perfect for the aspiring young Princess, Fairy or Dancer in your life.
We have 5 coordinating fabrics from the range in pastel pinks, blues and white. They feature fairytale castles, beautiful ballerinas, ballet shoes, tutus and a sprinkling of stars and butterflies. The fabrics are 100% high quality cotton and cost £14/m. They are also available by the Fat Quarter at £3.50 each or a beautifully presented bundle for £17.50.
The range also features an easy to sew pocket panel perfect for storing precious trinkets and jewels. The panel costs £8 and has all the instructions printed on it. You will also need 0.5m of interfacing to reinforce the pockets and 0.75m of fabric to back it with and to form the hanging loops. Or why not create a patchwork back from a Fat Quarter bundle. What little (or big!) girl could resist?
There is a free pattern for a large ballet pump cushion. The pattern includes all the templates for the appliqué as well as instructions on assembling it using the fusible web method. The cushion has a patchwork border and is finished with a simple envelope back. The finished cushion measures 20″ square. How about stitching up some matching curtains for a coordinated room set?
